Dasterdly Dandilions
Everyone has battled with dandilions.
Anyone that hasn't, has some nice Malibu beachfront property.
Dandilions prefer a compacted soil with a good amount of clay,
but it seems it will grow in just about anything.
One good, yet time consuming strategy is to pull them.
look for them early spring and dig out the root as deep as possible.
This way, in most areas it is a good time to reseed before they grow back.
If they are grown, let the flowers mature, being ready to pick them
before the seeds fly. Be careful not to let them fly when picking.
(why invite more headaches, right?)
Maybe a sandwich baggie to cover the flower while pinching it.
Then use one of those long forked tounge dandilion pickers and dig down
deep around the root. You will never get it all as dandilion roots can grow
manye feet deep. By picking it when it seeds, it has used alot
of energy and between that and digging deep, your chances are good.
Good, that is, if you get a thick grass growing to take its place
and choke out any root that may reach near the surface.
Chemicals kill the top of the weed, but thin the grass from chemical
damage and starvation to the millions of microbial lifeforms
in every single gram of healthy soil.
Fertilize your soil instead of feeding the plant roots.
You will be amazed at the results.
We also have a few all natural concoctions that work quite well.

"Within several weeks, we
finally had a nice lush green lawn, and
have had several comments from friends, family, and neighbors. Our lawn
thrived all summer long, and remained green and lush all through the
winter"
